Media Takeover Rules
Washington - The Bush administration will not ask the Supreme Court to
overturn a ruling that struck down the Federal Communication Commission's
sweeping changes of media ownership rules.
The FCC had until Monday to decide whether to appeal the ruling by the 3rd
U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia. The Justice Department, in
consultation with the FCC, decided against an appeal,
FCC spokeswoman Rebecca Fisher said Thursday.

Ultra-Secret Troops Poised At Inaugural
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Somewhere in the shadows of the White House and the
Capitol last week, a small group of super-secret commandos stood ready with
state-of-the-art weaponry to swing into action to protect the president in
ways that have never before been fully revealed.
As part of the extraordinary army of 13,000 troops, police officers and
federal agents marshaled to secure the inauguration, these elite forces were
deployed under a 1997 authorization that was updated and enhanced after the
Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, but it nonetheless
departs from how the military has historically been used on American soil.
These commandos, operating under a secret counterterrorism program code-named
Power Geyser, were mentioned publicly for the first time last week on a Web
site for a new book, "Code Names: Deciphering U.S. Military Plans, Programs

9/11 Was An Inside Job
!
The $7 billion federal class action lawsuit
against top Bush Administration officials for, among other things, their
roles in engineering and orchestrating the 911 attacks has been
dismissed by Judge Illston. Attorney for the plaintiffs, Stanley Hilton is
preparing an appeal to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and hopes to
reverse the judge's ruling.
Mr. Hilton will be making the fifteen page ruling dismissing the suit
available to the public. As soon as

online for all to read and understand the judge's given reasons for
dismissing the suit.
Mr. Ashes spoke with Stanley Hilton earlier today and
Mr. Hilton informed him that the judge's ruling was
based on the "Doctrine of Sovereign Immunity".
In other words, the suit was not dismissed because of lack of evidence,
but rather because the judge reasoned that U.S. Citizens do not have the
right to hold a sitting President accountable for anything, even if the
charges include premeditated mass murder and premeditated acts of high
treason. Mr. Hilton and his plaintiffs disagree and so are
filing an appeal.

Why I'm Willing to
Defend Hussein

...Both international law and the Constitution of the United States
guarantee the right to effective legal representation to any person
accused of a crime. This is especially important in a highly politicized
situation, where truth and justice can become even harder to achieve.
That's certainly the situation today in Iraq. The war has caused the
deaths of tens of thousands of Iraqis and the widespread destruction of
civilian properties essential to life. President Bush, who initiated and
oversees the war, has manifested his hatred for Hussein, publicly
proclaiming that the death penalty would be appropriate.
The United States, and the Bush administration in particular, engineered
the demonization of Hussein, and it has a clear political interest in his
conviction. Obviously, a fair trial of Hussein will be difficult to ensure
— and critically important to the future of democracy in Iraq. This trial
will write history, affect the course of violence around the world and
have an impact on hopes for reconciliation within Iraq.
Hussein has been held illegally for more than a year without once meeting
a family member, friend or lawyer of his choice. Though the world has seen
him time and again on television — disheveled, apparently disoriented with
someone prying deep into his mouth and later alone before some unseen
judge — he has been cut off from all communications with the outside world
and surrounded by the same U.S. military that mistreated prisoners at Abu
Ghraib and Guantanamo...
