Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence? Five signers were captured by the British as traitors and tortured before they died. Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned. Two lost their sons serving in the Continental Army; another had two sons captured. As long as U.S. troops remain in Iraq, the perception of the resistance will be that the Government in Iraq is a puppet of the United States. Our presence in Iraq is destabilizing, and I would like to pose this question: how much worse could things get if the United States pulled out of Iraq?

What is needed is a regional multinational solution, not one led by the United States or the UN. My friend and colleague William Rivers Pitt has asked for a plan for withdrawal that wouldn't lead to more chaos. Before I answer that question I raise a different question, and that is: how do we know that withdrawal will not be the first step to a peace process with a majority of the resistance in Iraq?

Any office seeker saying otherwise would be committing political suicide. In fact, anyone saying otherwise will be labeled "un-American." We're an "empire," ain't we? Sure we are. An empire without a manufacturing base. An empire that must borrow $2 billion a day from its competitors in order to function. Yet the delusion is ineradicable. We're No. 1. Well...this is the country you really live in:
The United States is 49th in the world in literacy (the New York Times, Dec. 12, 2004).
The United States ranked 28th out of 40 countries in mathematical literacy (NYT, Dec. 12, 2004).
Twenty percent of Americans think the sun orbits the earth. Seventeen percent believe the earth revolves around the sun once a day (The Week, Jan. 7, 2005).

In 2004 the atrocity of US troops abusing Iraqi POWs exposed the dark side of human rights performance of the United States. The scandal shocked the humanity and was condemned by the international community. It is quite ironic that on Feb. 28 of this year, the State Department of the United States once again posed as the "the world human rights police" and released its Country Reports on Human Rights Practices for 2004. As in previous years, the reports pointed fingers at human rights situation in more than 190 countries and regions (including China) but kept silent on the US misdeeds in this field. Therefore, the world people have to probe the human rights record behind the Statue of Liberty in the United States.

"White House News Forgeries Widespread"
"Thank you, Bush. Thank you, U.S.A.," a jubilant Iraqi-American told a camera crew in Kansas City for a segment about reaction to the fall of Baghdad. A second report told of "another success" in the Bush administration's "drive to strengthen aviation security"; the reporter called it "one of the most remarkable campaigns in aviation history." A third segment, broadcast in January, described the administration's determination to open markets for American farmers.

To a viewer, each report looked like any other 90-second segment on the local news. In fact, the federal government produced all three. The report from Kansas City was made by the State Department. The "reporter" covering airport safety was actually a public relations professional working under a false name for the Transportation Security Administration.
The farming segment was done by the Agriculture Department's office of communications...

The Admiralty Court Exists Because the U.S. is Under Martial law
This Awareness* wishes briefly to remind entities that the admiralty court is the court in which the gold braid goes around the American Flag which indicates the court is under martial law, or under admiralty law, from the martial law since Abraham's Lincoln's executive order putting it under martial law, and in order to continue staying under martial law, the country has to have some kind of war every two years. Thus, the war on drugs, the war on poverty, et cetera, and the admiralty laws are used in the courts in such a way that they are not necessarily tied to the Constitution, although the Constitution is said to be the law of the land.

Congress Declares War on the Poor
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Millions of Americans could be plunged into financial ruin if a bill giving credit card companies long-sought relief from unpaid loans gets final Congressional approval, a broad array of consumer protection,
 economic justice, and civil rights groups warned.

Senators on Thursday passed the bankruptcy reform bill, which political observers said was largely crafted by the cradit card industry more than eight years ago, sending it to the House of Representatives.
 Lawmakers there said they could vote on final passage next month.

This week Senate Republicans are bringing George Bushıs budget to the floor.

This bill is nothing short of immoral and we need to fight it. I ask all of you on this list to write a letter to the editor of your local paper and get the facts out in your community.

Our budget comes down to moral choices -- the Bush budget chooses tax giveaways for corporations over college loans for kids. It chooses loopholes that let big businesses get away with avoiding taxes over aid to family farmers and rural communities; the companies that dodge their responsibilities by setting up fake headquarters in Bermuda over the partnership that is helping small businesses create manufacturing jobs here at home.

Just look at this budgetıs effect on our homeland security. It targets firefighter assistance and cuts those grants by 31 percent ­ below the amount from last year. And when it comes to the COPS program ­ so important in protecting America from terrorism­ the budget has good news and bad news. The good news is that they are not trying to eliminate the COPS program. The bad news is that they are cutting it by 96 percent. Kind of makes you wonder why they decided to leave that four percent there. Maybe weıre supposed to be grateful.

We need a budget that prepares our nation for the economy of the future. But President Bushıs budget saddles our economy and the next generation with an even greater burden of debt .These Republican policies that have added trillions to the debt ­ in effect, a ³birth tax² of $36,000 on every child that is born.

The Bush budget doesn't count the future costs of the war in Iraq. It doesn't count the nearly $5 trillion his Social Security plan costs. And it doesn't count the full cost of his tax cuts. When this Bush budget gets placed in the Library of Congress, it ought to get filed under fiction.

These choices arenıt based on the kinds of values you and I believe in. America has a moral compass -- Washington Republicans are just reading it upside down.

Working for a budget that lives by Americaıs morals instead of mocking them, wonıt be easy. The Washington Republicans will fight us every step of the way. I need your help. Use the talking points below and write a letter to the editor of your local paper letting your community know how George Bushıs Budget doesnıt live by your values.

KEY POINT: Unfortunately, the Senate GOP Budget Resolution closely tracks President Bushıs budget proposal. Like the Presidentıs budget, it increases deficits and debt, leaves out large costs, includes more deficit-financed tax cuts, and focuses on the wrong priorities for the American people.

Makes Deficits Worse, Not Better. Deficits would not be cut in half under this resolution. When omitted costs are factored in, such as AMT reform, realistic ongoing war costs, and the Social Security surplus being spent on tax cuts and other things, we see that operating deficits will remain above $500 billion and reach $569 billion in 2010. The resolution would worsen our nationıs fiscal outlook at the worst possible time, right before the baby boom generation retires.

Leaves Out Large Costs, Hiding Real Budget Outlook. Like the Presidentıs budget, the Senate GOP Budget Resolution leaves out large costs ­ making the deficit numbers look better than the reality. Both plans leave out the cost of AMT reform ­ the old millionaires tax that is increasingly becoming a middle-class tax trap. And both plans fail to provide a realistic longer-term level of funding for military operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the ongoing war on terrorism. The President has requested another $82 billion in supplemental funds for 2005, but included nothing in his budget for 2006 and beyond. The Senate GOP Budget Resolution appropriately included a $50 billion reserve fund for these operations for 2006, but far more is likely to be needed. CBO estimates that ongoing military operations could cost $383 billion over the 2006 to 2015 period.

Deficits Primarily Caused by Drop in Revenues. It is important to remember that the deficits have primarily been caused by the drop in revenues, not by increased spending. Last year, revenues as a percent of GDP fell to the lowest level since 1959. Spending as a share of the economy is still down from the levels it reached in the 1980's.

Calls for More Deficit-Financed Tax Cuts. Despite record deficits, the Senate GOP Budget Resolution provides reconciliation protection for another $70 billion in deficit-financed tax cuts over five years. Specifically, the resolution calls for extending the tax cuts on dividends and capital gains.
These tax cuts would provide millionaires with an average annual tax break of $35,000.

Debt Would Continue to Soar Under Resolution. The deficits are leading to an explosion in our nationıs debt. When President Bush took office, it was projected that virtually all publicly held debt would be paid off by 2008.
If we adopt the policies in the Senate GOP Budget Resolution, plus reform AMT and fund ongoing war costs, publicly held debt will climb to $5.9 trillion by 2008.

Focuses on the Wrong Priorities. Like the Presidentıs budget, the resolution would provide more deficit-financed tax cuts, while at the same time calling for damaging cuts in key priorities of the American people.
For example, the resolution would cut $4.8 billion from more than 48 education programs. To put that in perspective, the cost of the Presidentıs tax cuts for those making more than $1 million in 2006 is $32 billion.

We can do better. We need to a budget plan that puts us back on a path of fiscal responsibility, stops the raid on the Social Security trust fund, and focuses on the right priorities for the American people.

Bush Caught on Tape
On one tape, Bush explains that he told one prominent evangelical that he would not "kick gays, because I'm a sinner. How can I differentiate sin?"

In early tapes, Bush dismisses the strength of John McCain for the nomination and expresses concern about rival Steve Forbes. He also praises John Ashcroft as a promising candidate for Supreme Court justice, attorney general or vice president.

Bush also criticizes then-Vice President Al Gore for admitting marijuana use and explains why he would not do the same.

Hands
An old man, probably some ninety plus years, sat feebly on the park bench.
 He didn't move, just sat with his head down staring at his hands.

When I sat down beside him he didn't acknowledge my presence and the longer I sat I wondered if he was ok.
Finally, not really wanting to disturb him but wanting to check on him at the same time, I asked him if he was ok.

He raised his head and looked at me and smiled.
"Yes, I'm fine, thank you for asking," he said in a clear strong voice.

"I didn't mean to disturb you, sir, but you were just sitting here staring at your hands and I wanted to
make sure you were ok" I explained to him.

"Have you ever looked at your hands?", he asked. "I mean really looked at your hands."

I slowly opened my hands and stared down at them.
I turned them over, palms up and then palms down.
No, I guess I had never really looked at my hands as I tried to figure out the point he was making.

Then he smiled and related this story:

how they have served you well throughout your years.

These hands, though wrinkled, shriveled and weak have
been the tools I have used all my life to reach out and grab and embrace life.

They braced and caught my fall when as a toddler

works real well, these hands hold me up, lay me down,
and again continue to fold in prayer.

These hands are the mark of where I've been and the ruggedness of my life.

But more importantly it will be these hands that God will reach out and take when he leads me home.

And He won't care about where these hands have been or what they have done.

What He will care about is to whom these hands belong and how much He loves these hands.

And with these hands He will lift me to His side and there I will use these hands to touch the face of Christ."

President Walking Eagle Bush
 President Bush was invited to address a major gathering of the American Indian Nation last weekend in Arizona. He spoke for almost an hour on his future plans for increasing every Native American's present standard of living.
He referred to his career as Governor of Texas and how he had signed "YES"
1,237 times for every Indian issue that came to his desk for approval.

Although the President was vague on the details of his plan, he seemed most enthusiastic about his future ideas for helping his "red brothers." At the conclusion of his speech, the Tribes presented the President with a plaque inscribed with his new Indian name--Walking Eagle. The proud President then departed in his motorcade, waving to the crowds.

A news reporter later inquired of the group of chiefs just how they had come to select the new name given to the President. They explained that Walking Eagle is the name given to a bird so full of shit it can no longer fly.

There have been three stages of American empire since the creation of this nation. Each has fed the other, and each has been established and fortified by war. More importantly, each has been fortified by the vast profits derived by the few in the making of war. The first two stages did not collapse, so much as they were absorbed by the next iteration, carrying over all circumstances and attendant difficulties. We exist today within the third stage of empire, one that is sick at the core.

The first stage of this American empire began with the Mexican-American war, but began to flourish at the conclusion of the Civil War. All the states east of the Mississippi River had been brought by force back under the rule of the federal government, a national taxation system had been established to provide revenues to that government, and the nascent outlines of what Eisenhower described as 'the military/industrial complex' had been built by the lucrative contracts handed out to arm, clothe and feed the military.

For many years prior, Americans had been pushing into the western lands occupied by native peoples. Under the banner of Manifest Destiny, the military/economic machine created to fight the Confederacy pushed its way to the Pacific Ocean. In the process, the vast majority of Native Americans were erased from the book of history,
a book that is always written by the victors...

Rumsfeld Sued over Prisoner Torture
When the Abu Ghraib photographs first surfaced, a wave of shock and revulsion rolled across the planet. Subsequent revelations indicated that senior Bush administration officials, including Alberto Gonzales and Donald Rumsfeld, actively pushed for the use of torture against individuals detained in the 'War on Terror,' and further sought to build firewalls between the administration and any legal consequences arising from said torture....

...Two human rights groups filed a lawsuit Tuesday against Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld on behalf of eight men allegedly tortured by U.S. forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"Rumsfeld bears direct responsibility" because he "personally signed off" on policies guiding prisoner treatment, said American Civil Liberties Union Executive Director Anthony Romero.

A number of other lawsuits also are pending against Rumsfeld, military commanders and civilian contractors in the abuse scandal, which broke last spring with the disclosure of photographs showing American military men and women abusing prisoners at Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison...

March 14 issue - Bush critics and veteran intel operatives alike were amazed when CIA Director Porter Goss, in a speech at the Ronald Reagan Library last week, apparently said he found his job overwhelming. The embarrassing report only reinforced the belief among some intel professionals that Goss's tenure has been troubled. The controversy erupted after the Associated Press quoted Goss as saying, "The jobs that I'm being asked to do, the five hats that I wear, are too much for this mortal... I'm a little amazed at the workload." Goss also reportedly said there was such "ambiguity" in the intel-reform bill that he didn't know what his official relationship was supposed to be with John Negroponte,
 the newly named director of National Intelligence.

Intel officials initially said the CIA chief's lecture was supposed to be closed to the media and that the emcee who introduced him told the audience that Goss's remarks should be treated accordingly. But Joanne Drake, chief of staff of the Reagan Library Foundation, told NEWSWEEK that while the media were not explicitly invited and recording equipment was banned, the speech was publicly announced. She said anyone, including journalists, who bought a $45 ticket was welcome to attend. Drake and an Intel official acknowledged the emcee never explicitly declared the session off the record.

The really cool thing about God is that, unlike all of us, He can't be fooled. At this very moment in your life, you are deciding where you will spend eternity. I know people like me who spout religious platitudes are labeled as delusional and whack jobs by people like you. That's truly okay because I always consider the source.
The lies that you print on this website are diabolically stupid. Please try to remember that all lies are exposed sooner or later.
Finally, I adore George Bush; even with all of his imperfections. He and his wife, Laura, are two of the most blessed people.
