On This Day in History in 1954...
1954 - U.S. President
Dwight D. Eisenhower signs a bill into law that places the words
"under God" to the
United States'
Pledge of Allegiance.
Editor's Note: A couple of weeks ago we were watching an old (pre WWII ) Porky Pig cartoon. The cartoon was about the NEED for every American to know and understand our 'Pledge of Allegiance'. In the cartoon Porky fell asleep and he had a dream. The dream was our forefathers telling Porky what it took for America to become 'The Land of The Free and The Home of The Brave' and why it was so important for every American child to know and understand our 'Pledge of Allegiance'. Porky awoke from his dream, put his hand on his heart and proudly said the Pledge of Allegiance without the words 'Under God', because they hadn't been added yet.
With or without those 2 words, I say it's past time to get the
Pledge of Allegiance back into our schools that no longer say the pledge
of allegiance every morning. Yes half of the states are still
requiring that the pledge be taught, but several states don't use it and
probably won't until this several year old legal issue is settled.

Think about it... Our Congressmen and Senators have made some schools in America stop teaching one of the most important pieces of American history, because they can't decide what to do with 2 words that were added to the document in 1954.
The really scary part... Those same people that can't decide what
to do with 2 words that were added to (thus altering) a historical
document in 1954, are the very same people deciding what laws we should
live by, what countries we should invade, if our soldiers should be home
or fighting illegal wars half way around the world, what gets put on the
news for you to see and what they don't want you to know about, where your
tax dollars are spent, when they think we want them to have a pay raise,
etc... But don't worry about them, after all it's your best
interests that they have in their hearts...

Washington - Senate Democrats will not allow a vote on President Bush's
choice for U.N. ambassador unless the White House hands over records of
communications intercepts Bolton sought from the secretive National Security
Agency, Minority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday.

Iraq, Afghan Vets Turning up Homeless
Washington - Advocates for the homeless already are seeing veterans from the war
on terror living on the street, and say the government must do more to ease
their transition from military to civilian life.
Linda Boone, executive director of the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans,
said about 70 homeless veterans who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan contacted her
group’s facilities in 2004, and another 125 homeless veterans from those
conflicts last year petitioned the Department of Veterans Affairs for
assistance.
"It’s not a big wave, but it’s an indicator that we still haven’t done our job,"
she said. "I think that our nation would be very embarrassed if they knew that."

plant on the southern tip of Sakhalin island in Russia's Far East, bears have
